  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, halved lengthwise
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cups ½-inch cubes French bread

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Heat butter, olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper in a small saucepan over medium heat until the butter is melted. Remove from the heat and let stand for 10 minutes.

Discard the garlic. Toss the bread with the butter mixture.

Spread on a baking sheet and bake, shaking the pan once or twice, until golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes.
